Experts and Expert Reports Masterclass (Consultants Only)
This seminar will be especially relevant to anyone involved in the preparation of reports for building claims or litigation. The success of a claim will often depend on the accuracy and adequacy of the expert report. It is essential therefore for experts to be aware of the current legal requirements and their responsibilities when the preparing and providing these reports.
The presenter, Carlos Mobellan will speak on the current issues relating to experts and expert reports including:
- the do’s and don’ts of expert evidence from beginning to end;
- the choice of experts;
- concurrent evidence or ‘hot tubbing’
- expert briefs;
- settling expert reports; and
- waiver of privilege issues.
Carlos is a barrister specialising in building cases with an emphasis on matters arising under the Home Building Act 1989 and the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999.
Carlos was admitted as a solicitor in 1997 and was called to the Bar in 2004 where he was awarded the bar practice course prize.
He has appeared for and against home owners, Owners Corporations, builders, government agencies and property development companies in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Federal Court of Australia, the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia, the District Court of New South Wales, Local Court of New South Wales and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
