On 24 October 2013, the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Amendment Bill 2013 (the Bill), proposing significant amendments to the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 (the Act), was introduced to NSW parliament.
If passed, the Bill will give effect to a number of important changes to the Act including the following:

The above proposed amendments will not apply to a construction contract that is entered into before the commencement of the amended Act, if passed.
